Make this book your teachers summer ready and implement for the 2016-2017 school year

May 9, 2016

Format: Paperback

I just received my copy of the latest book by Dr. Gentry. Amazing. I have been in the classroom for 25 years in grades PK-12. Teachers in all subject areas have the mission to aid students in improving their writing each year. Writing is a life long skill that takes practice and critique.

This latest book creates an atmosphere "a workshop" for all of the stakeholders. I love the sharing part - peer support in the rough draft stage is key. The book even discusses the entire classroom environment "the flow". This book can be used right away, discussed in faculty meetings, implemented this August-Sept- the new school year writing program and I know if invited Dr. Gentry would love to come to your school or school system as a consultant. It is about making the first emotional connection to the finish product all all the exciting stages between. Students will learn to love to write with this book!!! Awesome Source for Differentiated Writing Instruction

April 27, 2016

Format: Paperback

As a Speech/Language Pathologist who has worked in the public schools for over 35 years, Strategies for Implementing Writer's Workshop, is full of research-based strategies that enable a teacher to address the individual needs of the students who struggle with putting their thoughts and ideas into written language. This is a resource for differentiated instruction and a great source for strategies to increase the intensity and explicitness of writing instruction in an inclusion classroom. I will be recommending this to all my colleagues, as well as all the literacy teachers I come in contact with.
